Liposuction Mini

To find out if liposuction is a good option for you, contact our Fort Lauderdale office or call 954-772-1069 to schedule a liposuction consultation with Dr. Chance Kaplan. Dr. Kaplan is an experienced and talented plastic and cosmetic surgeon. He has been treating the “trouble areas” for decades, and his skill is unsurpassed. Dr. Kaplan has a kind and compassionate nature, which is also evidenced by his charitable work with such organizations as Operation Smile.

Many people struggle through punishing diets and exercise routines in their efforts to rid themselves of stubborn deposits of body fat. Despite their grueling regimens, the fat deposits persist. If this sounds like you, it may help to know that this is not your fault. Often, factors beyond your control, like genetics, are to blame. Liposuction may be what you need to get rid of that stubborn fat so that you can finally have the body of your dreams.

Liposuction can be used on nearly every part of the body. From your stomach to your hips and even to your neck or underarms, liposuction will help to reshape your body. Liposuction may also be performed as part of a larger procedure like a tummy tuck.

 Your Liposuction Consultation

Your initial consultation at our Fort Lauderdale office is a fantastic opportunity for you and Dr. Kaplan to get to know each other and for Dr. Kaplan to learn more about you and what you are hoping to accomplish with liposuction.

Dr. Kaplan will review the procedure with you so that you fully understand what liposuction is about. He will also go over your medical history and medications that you are currently taking. You may be asked to stop some medications temporarily because they could affect your liposuction results.

You will also receive instructions that will help you prepare in the days preceding your liposuction and discuss your options for anesthesia. When you feel you are ready, your liposuction will be scheduled at either our surgical facility in Fort Lauderdale or at a local Fort Lauderdale hospital.

The Liposuction Procedure

Because liposuction can be performed in so many areas, every single procedure is different. Dr. Kaplan will work through small, inconspicuous incisions in the area being treated. The number of incisions will depend greatly on how large of an area being treated as will the length of time that your liposuction will require.

In order to keep bleeding to a minimum and reduce trauma to the area, a sterile solution will be infused into the area to be treated. Using a thin, hollow tube called a cannula, Dr. Kaplan will work through the incision. The cannula is first used to dislodge or loosen the fat, and then a vacuum-like device attached to the cannula will be used to suck the loosened fat out. In some cases, a device more like a syringe will be used to remove the fat.

Once the fat is removed, your incisions will be closed with either removable or absorbable sutures.

Following Your Liposuction

At first, your results will be obscured by the bruising and swelling that often occurs with any surgical procedure. As the bruising and swelling fades, you will be able to see your new contours.

Keep your scheduled follow-up appointments at our Fort Lauderdale clinic with Dr. Kaplan so that he can check your progress. Some cases may require additional liposuction — especially if the procedure is being done over a large area. Dr. Kaplan will discuss this with you so that you know what to expect.

Follow Dr. Kaplan’s advice regarding your return to normal activity. Don’t rush it; your body needs time to heal.
